Caesar Augustus Bust - Statuary
Caesar Augustus (63BC - 14AD), was the first Emperor of the Roman Empire, ruling alone from 31BC. This bust is replicated from a marble statue excavated in 1863 at Prima near Rome and now displayed at the Vatican Museum. Caesar Augustus, whose great uncle was Julius Caesar, is depicted in armour as commander-in-chief of the Roman army.
