Le Chameau Technique

Technique - In 1927, Claude Chamot, a footwear retailer in Cherbourg, decided to manufacture boots in natural crepe because he was experiencing difficulties with his supplier. This is how the Le Chameau brand was born. Since then, Le Chameau, using a perfect blend of tradition and technology, has been making the highest quality boots. Every pair, which is hand-made and designed in our workshops, is unique. The meticulous attention to detail in manufacture combined with the choice of raw materials demonstrates Le Chameaus expertise.

This art has been passed on by our master boot-makers to our apprentices for generations. Though still made using traditional methods, Le Chameau boots are at the cutting edge of technology.

Each sole is designed to meet the specific requirements for a particular use. Moreover, the specially fitted linings meet the requirements of extreme environmental and weather conditions : the insulation of neoprene and thermoregulation of Outlast are perfect for extreme cold, whereas leather and jersey material remain breatheable and comfortable during milder weather.

Remaining true to this ideal of perfection, Le Chameau has developed a range of footwear and clothes. Designed for extreme or for everyday use, the range uses both very high technicity materials (KotKor, Gore-Tex) and traditional materials too (cotton, leather,) while meeting all specifications regarding product strength. Nothing is left to chance : shapes, details and materials are all taken into account to guarantee maximum protection and comfort.
