FAQ
We have tried below to answer some of the more
common questions about this range of products, we are always happy to answer
any other question about the Garden Structure range which does not appear here.
Q. Can I leave my Arbour out in the winter?
Yes. All these
products are designed to withstand even the most severe of winter
weather.
Q. Is it real lead?
Yes. Absolutely, genuine lead milled in the
UK.
Q. Do I need a base?
For Arbours it is not essential, although
you may find it easier to position if one exists. For buildings, normally a
base will be required. Individual differences between Buildings are described
on each product page.
Q. What if I require power to my
building?
Consult a local electrician, who will advise on getting power
to the base, Garden Structure installers will run your cables to the required
location within the building.
Q. How long will delivery
take?
Arbours, normally around four weeks. Larger structures normally
four to five weeks, however this might extend to a maximum of six weeks during
the busy Summer months.
Q. How long will the stain last?
This does
depend on circumstances, however the manufacturer (Dulux) does suggest a life
span of six years. The advantage of using a water based stain against an oil
based product is that the item can be re-stained at any time without the need
for time consuming paint striping and sanding.
Q. How do I obtain more
information about colours?
The range of colours available is far too
large to include in any detail (over 1200 in total). We use a range of water
based stain called Aquatech. Manufactured by Dulux, information and colour
charts are available through their web-site and through their network of
stockists throughout the UK. Information can also be obtained through some
other Builders Merchants and DIY Centres on
request.
MATERIALS
The following describe some of the
materials used in our product range and why.
Lead ... Lead provides
the ideal covering all our structures. It is a natural product, it mellows to
an attractive blue - grey finish, and is a long lasting and effective protector
against the elements.
Toughened Glass ... Whilst many other
Summerhouses use standard glass, it has always been our policy to incorporate
toughened glass (to British standards) into the Classical Garden Structures.
Apart from the obvious safety concerns, toughened glass is more resistant to
scratching and pitting, caused by such innocuous events as stone chippings from
mowing the lawn!
Water Based Stain ... Contradictory to popular
thinking, these buildings are not painted. Technically, they are stained! Why
use water based over oil based? There are some very simple advantages to the
stain used on the structures. A stain will not peal like a paint if it does not
take properly. If the stain is damaged, it can be re-touched without leaving a
blotchy finish. The structure can be re-stained when necessary without the need
to strip the previous material off first.
Hardwood Timber ... Where
necessary the finest hardwoods are used in the structure of the buildings.
Doors, posts and cills are always constructed in this manner to aid longevity.
