The Weber Spirit Classic E210 Gas Barbecue is a stylish two-burner gas barbecue from one of the most well-known barbecue brands. It’s packed with high-spec features, including stainless-steel burners, porcelain-enamelled grills and vaporiser bars (trademarked by Weber as Flavorizer Bars) that are designed to give food a smoky, char-grilled taste. But do these vaporiser bars work? And is this top-notch Weber gas barbecue a Best Buy?

It’s extremely well-made and sturdy, and its high-spec features make it a joy to cook on.

Authentic barbecue food

This Weber barbecue cooks delicious food. Its five vaporiser bars performed so well in our tests that food tasted as though it had been cooked over charcoal.

Chicken, sausages and kebabs were tasty, moist and full of flavour, and cooked evenly without having to be constantly moved around the grill. Food even had that char-grilled appearance which can be difficult to achieve on a gas barbecue.

Excellent quality

When it comes to build quality this barbecue scores top marks. It’s well-made and has a high-quality finish, none of its components are flimsy or prone to distortion. It’s straightforward to put together and, once assembled, is sturdy and stable with a solid construction.

It’s fairly heavy to move, but, with two large wheels and two castors, it’s easy to manoeuvre around the patio, and the castors can be locked in place to keep it steady while you’re cooking on it.

Excellent grill, fantastic features

Most of this barbecue’s features are impressive, designed to help you cook great food and to make the barbecuing experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.

It has two separate grills, so you can cook a small or large meal. The grills are lovely to cook on, and because they’re porcelain-enamelled food is less likely to stick to them as it cooks. The burners give off a fierce heat but it’s easy to control, which allows for responsive grilling. They distribute heat evenly across the grill so food cooks consistently.

The hood retains heat well and its temperature gauge means you can accurately monitor the heat for pre-heating and roasting.

It has a useful side shelf that’s well insulated, so you can rest hot dishes on it, and it has condiment baskets, which are great for storing the bottles and sauces you use during cooking, attached to both shelves. It even has tool hooks where you can store various utensils.

Some disappointing features

The main drawback to this barbecue is that the warming rack is on the small side. You can’t fit a lot of food on it and it’s not deep enough to rest kebabs; you have to rest them diagonally which means there’s even less room for keeping other food warm.

We felt the location of the gas controls and ignition switch, on the right-hand side shelf, were a waste of space that could have housed a second storage shelf or side burner.

Although it adds to the stylish design, the storage cabinet is limited; there’s no internal shelf, so it’s really just a base storage tray behind closed doors.
