National Bird Box Week 14th to 21st Feb – Give A Bird A Home!
National Bird Box Week starts 14th February every year and aims to encourage people to put up more bird boxes to provide more homes for our breeding birds and wildlife.
Natural nest sites such as holes in trees and buildings are fast disappearing as gardens and woods are ‘tidied’ and old houses repaired. National Nest Box Week (NNBW) was first launched in 1997 and has encouraged thousands of enthusiastic naturalists across the UK to put up boxes to compensate for this loss.
Now it is your turn to get involved and give back to nature!!
If you have an existing box, it is a good idea to check that it is still in good condition for the season ahead. You may need to give it a good clean depending if it has had any recent messy residents.
If you do not have a box, you can build your own as a project for yourself, or with your kids. If you do not have the time to build your own, there are many available in store and online.
Bird tables and feeders are another great way to encourage more wildlife into your garden. Whether you have a big area for large bird tables and bird baths or a small space for just a hanging feeder, we have many different types available.
Stone bird baths are also very good for encouraging wildlife into your garden and are available in a variety of styles and designs to suit all landscapes and areas.
