Gardener’s Diary – Top Tips for July 2019

Enjoy our monthly Gardener’s diary for some fantastic tips on how to keep your garden going through all of the seasons.

 

Plant maintenance

Flower beds, containers and hanging baskets need maintaining throughout the Summer. Deadhead any flowering perennials bedding plants to ensure continuous flowering. If you’re going away for a week or so, make sure you remember your houseplants! Sit them in a shallow tray of water and take them out of direct sunlight before you jet off on your holidays. This will help them not to dry out.

Treat your garden

Make the most of the glorious weather! Give any woodwork a lick of paint or preserver while the weather is dry. We have plenty to choose from in store, so take care of your buildings, fences and garden furniture.

Care for your lawn

Give the lawn a quick acting summer feed, especially if it hasn’t already had a spring feed. This should help to prevent weeds and moss from establishing. Make sure you are mowing your lawn regularly as it will keep your lawn in goods health.
