Where To Visit In October Half Term

Entertaining your children can sometimes be difficult when they’re off school, especially during the October half term due to the typical British weather. However, across the UK are many National Trust gardens available to visit, all you need to do is wrap up warm and you’ll have endless amounts of fun. After all, Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year.

East Riddlesden Hall, West Yorkshire is the perfect place for a family outing. The hall dates back 400 years and it was the home of a 17th Century cloth merchant, which obviously shows that there is a lot of history to see! You can have a guided tour of the beautiful home and gardens, or you can stroll around and explore on your own. During half term, there is a Halloween event, in which there is a trail which leads up to a grotto.

Lyme Park, House and Garden, Cheshire is surrounded by moorland and a deer park. There are many different elements which you and the children will find interesting, whether it being the tranquil walk around the rose garden or the children’s Playscape. The home is that spectacular it even featured on the BBC’s Pride & Prejudice. There is a Crow Wood Spooky Trail around the woodland during half term.

Nymans, West Sussex has been around since the 1800’s and has the theme of a fairytale gothic mansion. There are guided walks and talks held all year round, however during half term they are hosting a creepy trail around the home to search for weird creatures. The walks are exceptionally beautiful this time of year due to the leaves changing colour and falling off the trees.
