Romantic Plants to Give this Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is that time to show someone you really care and just how much you love and appreciate them.

Flowers are a popular way to spread joy on Valentine’s Day, and it is usually a dozen fresh cut roses that we give or receive. But why not try something different this year, some plants can be romantic, and they last longer than the average bunch of flowers.

Some ideas of Valentine’s Day plants are:

Orchids

Orchids

Stunning plants that can bloom for many weeks and you have the choice of having different colours. These pants can make a bold statement and their leaves can grow into heart-like shapes, it is the perfect gift to give if you’re looking to impress a secret crush. It’s a simple plant which can say a lot to someone you love.

Cyclamens

Cyclamens

Huddled all together this makes the plant look like they’re hugging. Cyclamens are long-lasting and bright flowers that will make a great Valentine’s plant. Available in red, pink and white, these colours will stand above the strong green of the leaves. These plants are best to be place near direct sunlight; the windowsill would be a perfect home.

The best thing about Cyclamens is that you can plant them outside for the summer and the plant will eventually fade once the warm weather disappears, but the bulb will still be alive and you can start the same process again, bring back indoors for the spring and it will soon blossom again – a plant that will last forever.

Flamingo Flower

Flamingo Flowers

A houseplant that always blooms in time for Valentine’s Day – Flamingo flower is an all year round plant and also has glossy heart-shape leaves, and their flowers are just the same. If you give them a prime location in the house, they are sure to make themselves feel welcome.

Flamingo Flower is also a good plant for removing indoor air pollution such as ammonia and other cleaning vapours.

Tulips

Tulips

An extremely popular flower to give on Valentine’s Day is Tulips. Tulips can come in a bulb form as well as already pre-cut flowers, if you buy tulips that are already potted you will find that they will survive longer than a bouquet of them. You can keep the plant inside until the weather gets better then you can take the plant outdoors to develop over the summer – again the bulb will carry on living once the plant has died, so just support the bulb through the winter and spring months to bring it back to life.
